ILT 2006 brings to you the pulse of this medium which is quietly but surely rocking the media scene in India. Here are some fascinating findings from the latest ILT 2006 Wave 1 data (Fieldwork period: 1st July 2006 to 9th Sep 2006):

  • Reach of Radio (Yesterday Listeners) has gone up marginally in Mumbai over 2005, adding about 18 lakh listeners
  • Audiences seem to be giving a better ear to listening over the Weekend than on a Weekday. The growth in Weekend Audience is three times the growth in Weekday audience

Heartening for Radio. Listeners listening to Radio all 7 days in a week has gone up from 22% to 25%, an 18% growth, adding 5.75 lac individuals

  • Delhi continues to maintain its all 7-days listenership base, with a marginal 4% growth.

The number of stations listened to has gone up in both Mumbai and Delhi. Delhi continues to be ahead of Mumbai in this respect.

  • The growth in Radio One reflects the change in programming. It has achieved a 19% reach in this wave as compared to a 6% reach in 2005
  • AIR FM 100.7 has also more than doubled it’s reach, growing by 124%
  • Red FM also registers an impressive growth of 64%
  • Nevertheless Radio Mirchi continues to retain its position by increasing its reach from 43% in 2005 to 44.4% in 2006
